This study was conducted to evaluate patient awareness and compliance to treatment following detection of osteoporosis in a screening program. The compliance rate was high, but the data were collected by self-report so are necessarily limited.

Osteoporosis is a well-recognized problem in the aging population. The condition is etiologically related to decreasing bone mineral density (BMD), which is considered a strong risk factor for fractures.
