Neutrophilic Dermatoses in Association with Portal Vein Thrombosis: A Case Report

Helen MacIver, MD.

A 36-year-old female was initially referred to rheumatology outpatients at a district general hospital in Yorkshire, UK, with a 6-month history of rash, with red lumps around both knees that faded quickly without scarring. She also had intermittent swelling in the knees and pain in both the Achilles’ tendon and heel. She had a background of Crohn’s disease (CD) that had required subtotal colectomy with ileostomy 13 years previously, and a small bowel resection 10 years later (3 years before the current presentation). Her CD was quiescent. She also had an underactive thyroid gland, for which she was on replacement therapy, and had received in vitro fertilization for subfertilty.
