Dose-related effect of statins in venous thrombosis risk reduction

Khemasuwan D, Chae YK, Gupta S et al.
Editor's note: In addition to lipid-lowering effects, statins have been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-thrombotic properties. A large, randomized, controlled trial suggested that, as a consequence of these pleiotropic effects, statins might prevent venous thrombosis in healthy subjects. However, the potential role of statins in the treatment or prophylaxis of venous thrombosis remains to be determined.
