Editor’s note: The tumor bed is the target for radiotherapy after breast-conserving surgery. The optimal clinical target volume – for whole-breast irradiation (WBI), a boost, or partial breast irradiation (PBI) – has yet to be established. This is an increasingly important issue; considering that modern radiotherapy tends towards reducing treatment volumes, there is a need for precise definition of what should be treated.
