Editor’s note: Diagnosis of breast cancer and its subsequent management cause considerable distress in many affected patients. Social support, marriage, and minimizing/denial have been shown to be associated with better breast cancer prognosis, whereas depression and constraint of emotions have been associated with reduced survival (
Breast Cancer Res 2007;9:R44). A few studies have attempted to evaluate whether psychological interventions influence disease outcome, but so far the results have been inconclusive.
