Editor’s note: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a known complication of cancer, seen in 5–20% of breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. In the present study, the authors investigated the hypothesis that circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are associated with the risk of VTE in metastatic breast cancer patients.
