Neoadjuvant Therapy for Breast Cancer

For many years, primary systemic (neo-adjuvant) therapy has been given prior to local or regional treatment in women with locally advanced breast cancer in an effort to make the disease operable. Traditionally chemotherapy has been the mainstay of this approach, but more recently neoadjuvant endocrine therapy has emerged as an effective treatment option for selected patients.
