Editor’s note: This study concerns the potential beneficial role of aspirin in the monocrotaline model of pulmonary hypertension (PH). The rationale relates to the inhibition of serotonin, a growth factor released by platelets and involved in the pathogenesis of PH (J Clin Invest 2001;108:1141–50). The study protocol involved a prevention strategy and a prior medication approach that anteceded monocrotaline instillation.
