Editor’s note: The development of chronic pulmonary infection in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) is a serious complication that leads to increased morbidity and risk of mortality. Antibiotic treatment for pulmonary infections has changed the course of disease in CF patients over the years and remains one of the most important treatment options for this disease. Antibiotics are administered in two different ways: systemically (either by oral or intravenous administration) or locally (by inhalation).
