Editor’s note: Lichen aureus (LA), which presents as golden brown lesions, usually on the legs, belongs to the group of persistent pigmented purpuric dermatoses (PPPDs) and is characterized histopathologically by a dense lichenoid lymphocytic infiltrate. Purpuric lesions similar to those in LA have been described in mycosis fungoides (MF), and monoclonal populations of T cells are frequently seen in LA. Furthermore, atypical cases of PPPD progressing to MF have been reported, and it has been suggested that PPPD may be associated with MF. The authors of the present study aimed to assess the potential relationship between LA and MF.
