One of the most commonly asked questions in modern diabetes management must be “What do you add in as second-line therapy after metformin?”. This has been a difficult question to answer, in part because pharmaceutical companies have often been wary of comparing their products against competitors for fear of being shown to be inferior. However, in recent years, there has been an increasing trend to perform comparator studies and the present study is a good example.
