Age-specific trends in incidence of noncardia gastric cancer in US adults

Anderson WF, Camargo MC, Fraumeni JF Jr et al.
Gastric cancer is the second-most common gastrointestinal (GI) malignancy and a major cause of mortality worldwide. In the US and other Western countries, some interesting trends in incidence have emerged over the last 50 years. In evaluating the most recent, population-based data from the US, Anderson and colleagues report an interesting anomaly – despite a progressive decline in non-cardia gastric cancer in general, there seems to have been a recent increase among the young white population.
