Gastrojejunal stoma diameter predicts weight regain after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.

Abu Dayyeh BK, Lautz DB, Thompson CC.

In the US, bariatric surgery has become common in an attempt to cope with the ever-increasing obesity epidemic. One of the most popular and successful operations has been the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. Although it is well appreciated that many patients lose significant amounts of weight immediately after this surgery, many regain a large proportion of their lost weight, essentially undoing much of the benefit of the original surgery (Ann Surg 2006;244:734–40).
