Helicobacter pylori was recognized as an important gastric pathogen, the European Helicobacter Study Group became strongly involved in converting the basic and translational science relating to this bacteria into recommendations for therapy. “Maastricht III” is the latest report to be published by the group, and comprises of contemporary opinions and recommendations concerning infection with
H pylori,
based upon a consensus meeting held in 2005. The present consensus report reflects opinion arrived at using objective criteria to amalgamate the input of 50 experts from 26countries, including primary care physicians as well as gastroenterologists.
