Editor’s note: The classic presentation of celiac disease as a failure to thrive plus weight loss and diarrhea is rarely seen today because cases are usually recognized and treated relatively early. However, in recent years attention has increasingly focused on the more subtle manifestations of the disease, such as its association with other autoimmune diseases or its presentation via abnormal liver function test results.
