Editor’s note: When treating patients with chronic hepatitis C virus infection, rapid virological response (RVR) is a predictor of sustained virological response (SVR) 6 months after completion of therapy. No such reliable predictor has been found in patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, although the rapid resolution of elevated transaminase values is sometimes used in this regard.
