Phase 3 trial of everolimus for metastatic renal cell carcinoma: final results and analysis of prognostic factors
Motzer RJ, Escudier B, Oudard S et al.
The RECORD-1 (Renal Cell Cancer Treatment with Oral RAD001 Given Daily) study was the first randomized, Phase III trial to be conducted in metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) patients who had failed first-line anti-angiogenic therapy (Lancet 2008;372:449–56). This study established the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) inhibitor everolimus as a standard of care for these patients. In the present article, Motzer et al. report mature rather than interim results, with updated progression-free survival (PFS) data (including 266 progression events compared with 191 in the initial report) and an additional 1 year in the overall survival (OS) analysis presented.
