Editor’s note: Over the past few years, several clinical trials have been performed to evaluate treatment for advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC). The findings obtained from these have demonstrated an important improvement in terms of tumor-growth control, progression-free survival, and overall survival with several targeted therapies. The current report presents the guidelines drawn up for the treatment of RCC in the UK. It discusses the clinical data that supports the evidence-based medicine for use of different therapeutic approaches in advanced kidney cancer, and the evidence level of these data.
