The prognostic significance of IDH2 mutations in AML depends on the location of the mutation

Blood 2011;118:409–12.

Editor’s note: Mutations in isocitrate dehydrogenase isoform-2 (IDH2) have been reported in 9–19% of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cases with a predominance of R140 lesions over R172 lesions. There is some evidence that R172 lesions confer a poor prognosis although this is based on small numbers of patients.
