Editor’s note: Little information is available regarding the prognostic value of cytogenetic aberrations in childhood B cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL), especially in children treated on a uniform protocol. The most common mature B cell lymphomas/leukemias in children are Burkitt lymphoma and, to a lesser extent, high-grade B cell (Burkitt-like) lymphoma and diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Burkitt lymphoma is a pathological entity characterized by chromosomal trans-locations associating the MYC gene (8q24) with one of the immunoglobulin loci.
