Editor’s note: High-dose melphalan with autologous stem cell transplantation has been shown to improve survival in patients with multiple myeloma (MM). However, obtaining sufficient CD34+ cells is often challenging in this group of patients, with approximately 20% of patients failing to mobilize sufficient cells for transplantation with either cytokines alone or cytokines and chemotherapy.
