Editor’s note: The role of positron emission tomography (PET) before autologous trans-plantation has previously been investigated. Metabolic evidence of residual lymphoma pre-autograft, as determined by a positive PET, is associated with both a worse overall survival and a worse progression-free survival (PFS; Leukemia 2002;16:260–7, Blood 2003;102:53–9, Bone Marrow Transplant 2006;38:211–6). However, there are no previous studies investigating the role of PET in allogeneic transplants for lymphoma.
