Survival after resection of synchronous non-small cell lung cancer.

The long-term overall survival rate for patients with stage IVa NSCLC is approximately 10–15%, but many believe that the survival of patients with bilateral lung tumors who are treated surgically is far better than this dismal figure. The current authors retrospectively reviewed their combined experience from three institutions on the surgical treatment of patients with multiple lung cancers.
