Editor’s note: Historically, patients with unresectable stage I lung cancer have been treated with external beam radiation, with 3-year survival rates in the range of 30–35% (Lung Cancer 2003;41:1–11). Radiofrequency ablation is one of several treatment modalities that are now available for inoperable patients with stage I NSCLC.
