Pulmonary complications are the main dose-limiting toxicity of thoracic radiotherapy. Radiologically, pneumonitis can be seen in approximately 50% of patients, although only between 10% and 30% will develop symptoms. The authors explored the computed tomography (CT) appearances of early radiation injury and linked it to clinical and dosimetric factors.
