A placebo-controlled trial of oral cladribine for relapsing multiple sclerosis

Giovannoni G, Comi G, Cook S et al.; CLARITY Study Group.
Editor’s note: Cladribine reduces the number of lymphocytes and levels of proinflammatory cytokines through inhibition of DNA synthesis and repair, leading to cell apoptosis. This study reports the results of the Phase III, multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled, CLARITY (Cladribine Tablets Treating Multiple Sclerosis Orally) trial that assessed the impact of cladribine on relapse rates in  patients with relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS).
