Editor’s note: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an essential tool in diagnosing multiple sclerosis (MS) and a number of studies have demonstrated that markers of high disease activity on MRI, such as high lesion load at diagnosis and the presence of spinal cord lesions, predict a worse outcome.
