Editor’s note: Pediatric-onset multiple sclerosis (MS) is rare and potentially under-diagnosed in comparison with the adult-onset disease. Therapeutic recommendations are mostly transposed from trials performed in adults and diagnostic criteria and risk factors are also less well established. In this prospective Canadian national cohort study, the authors followed 302 children for a median of 3.14 years after an initial episode suggestive of central nervous system (CNS) demyelination and determined the predictive values of diagnostic procedures and known MS risk factors.
