Validation of the ABCD²-I score to predict stroke risk after transient ischemic attack.

Meng X, Wang Y, Liu L et al.
The age, blood pressure, clinical symptoms, duration of symptoms, and diabetes (ABCD2) score is well-established as a tool for stratifying the early risk of stroke in transient ischemic attack (TIA) patients. It is a clinically based scale, using five parameters in a 7-point scale (range 0–7). In this article, the authors at a single Chinese center compared this with the ABCD2-I score, which includes the presence or absence of a diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI)-positive lesion on magnetic resonance imaging in addition to the clinical variables. This produces a score ranging from 0–10.
