Editor’s note: The degree to which a history of migraine may contribute to the risk of stroke has long been debated. A meta-analysis of studies up to 2004 (BMJ 2005;330:63) indicated that migraine with and without aura was a significant risk factor for ischemic stroke. However, subsequent large case–control studies indicate that this association may be limited to migraine with aura.
