Cognitive stimulation has been shown to improve cognition in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), although the mechanisms behind these improvements have not yet been investigated. In the current study, the authors used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to analyze the effect of cognitive training on brain activation in adults with MCI and to determine whether this training could reverse the changes in the brain that are associated with MCI.
