Influence of surgery simulator training on ophthalmology resident phacoemulsification performance.

Belyea DA, Brown SE, Rajjoub LZ.
These authors set out to determine whether the use of an eye-surgery simulator during ophthalmology residency training improves cataract surgery performance. Residents were divided into two groups according to whether or not they had undergone simulator training during their residency. The same supervising senior surgeon retrospectively reviewed the phacoemulsification times, percentage power, and intraoperative complications.
