Editor’s note: The current consensus on the management of orbital cellulitis is that patients should be admitted for intravenous (IV) antibiotic treatment. Some antibiotics have an oral bioavailability similar to the IV preparation. With this and the inconvenience and potential complications of IV administration of antibiotics in mind, the current authors investigated whether oral antibiotics could be used in orbital cellulitis.
