Editor’s note: In this investigation, analysis of fundal photographs of 8594 eyes of 4324 subjects in the Beijing Eye Study identified exposed optic disc drusen in nine eyes (0.1%) of eight subjects (0.2%). Drusen were significantly associated with small optic discs (p<0.001). The authors suggest that the higher prevalence of small optic discs is likely to be associated with a higher prevalence of optic disc drusen in white people.
