Changes in vitamin D levels in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus: effects on fatigue, disease activity, and damage

Ruiz-Irastorza G, Gordo S, Olivares N et al.
In a previous cross-sectional study, this group of investigators demonstrated a high prevalence of low levels of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D) in a cohort of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE; Rheumatology [Oxford] 2008;47:920–3). In addition, they found that low levels of 25(OH)D correlated with fatigue but not with SLE activity or irreversible organ damage.
