Editor’s note: Uveitis describes a group of inflammatory diseases that can affect many structures of the eye and are occasionally associated with rheumatic autoimmune diseases. The International Uveitis Study Group has classified uveitis according to duration as acute (≤3 months) and chronic (≥3 months), and according to the anatomical location as anterior, intermediate, posterior, and panuveitis. Finally, according to the inflammatory type, the disease is classified as granulomatous or non-granulomatous. Previous estimates of the frequency of uveitis associated with different rheumatic autoimmune diseases have ranged from 9–40%. This study described the frequency of uveitis associated with rheumatic inflammatory autoimmune disease (RIAD) observed in adult patients in a tertiary centre from Mexico City.
