Editor’s note: Maintaining bone health is important, particularly in postmenopausal women. Physical fitness and muscle strength may contribute to improving bone density, and they will also have added benefits such as better stability and reduced risk of falls. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of habitual and low impact physical activity on lean and fat mass, as well as on bone in postmenopausal women. Patients were assessed at baseline and at 36 months with a range of assessments including anthropometry, bone densitometry, dietary assessment, and assessment of physical activity using a standardized interview format.
