Involvement of the Foot
and Ankle in Psoriatic Arthritis

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a chronic, inflam-matory arthritis occurring in association with psoriasis. PsA occurs in approximately 14% of people with psoriasis, but the presence of psoriasis is not necessary to make the diagnosis [1]. Approximately 15% of people develop the arthritis prior to the skin manifestations [1]. As with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), it is now recognized that people with psoriasis and PsA have problems beyond the skin and joints, and an increased mortality due to cardiovascular disease [2].
