Editor’s note: Prevention of influenza in immunocompromised patients is vital in preventing the occurrence of severe respiratory complications during community outbreaks. Previous studies have suggested that vaccine responses may be attenuated in patients on immunosuppressive therapies. Oil-in-water squalene-based adjuvanted influenza vaccines are now licensed in Europe. In Switzerland, these vaccines are recommended as a split-dose schedule for immunocompromised patients and as a single dose for healthy individuals.
