Editor’s note: Compared with healthy controls, patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) have accelerated atherosclerosis, which is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in these patients. The current study was designed to investigate whether atorvastatin can reduce the progression of subclinical atherosclerosis, and to determine the role of atorvastatin in reducing the disease activity of SLE.
