Extravesical implantation of a continent catheterizable channel.
VanderBrink BA, Kaefer M, Cain MP et al.
The advent of an alternative site for catheterization of the urinary bladder has revolutionized the care of the neurogenic bladder. When conservative measures fail, urinary reconstruction is required that involves multiple procedures such as bladder augmentation, bladder neck repair, and the creation of an alternative site for catheterization. In some situations, there is no need for bladder augmentation, which affords the opportunity to create an alternative site for catheterization without the need to open the urinary bladder, and to utilize the principles associated with the success of the Lich–Gregoir extravesical reimplantation. VanderBrink and colleagues present their long-term results of creation of the extravesical continent catherizable channel (CCC).
