Editor’s note: The CombAT (Combination of Avodart and Tamsulosin) study is an ongoing, international trial investigating the efficacy of the dual 5-α reductase inhibitor dutasteride and the α-blocker tamsulosin in men with moderate-to-severe urinary symptoms and prostate enlargement. It is a double-blind, randomized, parallel-group study comparing monotherapy with dutasteride 0.5 mg daily, monotherapy with tamsulosin 0.4 mg daily, or the combination of both over a 4-year treatment period. The 2-year results of the study are presented in the current report.
