Editor’s note: Currently, a postoperative voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG) is recommended following endoscopic injection therapy for the correction of vesicoureteral reflux (VUR). Owing to reduced morbidity and ease of use, this approach certainly has its merit. However, several studies have proven that endoscopic therapy can reduce the incidence of postoperative urinary tract infection and, thus, the utility of a postoperative VCUG has come into question. Significant psychological morbidity can result from a VCUG, as well as other factors such as cost and radiation. In this study, Ellsworth et al. attempted to correlate postoperative bladder ultrasound findings with reflux resolution following endoscopic treatment.
