Recognition and Management of Acute and Chronic Pain in Cats

As a profession, veterinarians have an ethical obligation to treat pain and prevent suffering. Untreated acute pain in cats may lead to poor clinical outcomes and chronic pain. It can also change a cat’s behaviour or temperament, impairing the pet–owner relationship. Unfortunately, pain in cats remains under-recognised and under-treated.
