PATHOGENESIS

Corazziari ES. J Pediatr Gastroenterol Nutr 2009;48(Suppl 2):S54–5.

The present author reviews the role of colonic mucus in normal and inflamed mucosa. The protective barrier function of the mucus layer is described, along with the potential mechanisms of defective barrier function that may be present in IBD.

The present short article examined the role of the colonic mucus in normal and inflamed mucosa.
