The presence or absence of antibodies to infliximab or adalimumab determines the outcome of switching to etanercept

This group had previously found that switching antitumor necrosis factor agents in rheumatoid arthritis was more useful when failure of the initial agent was associated with the presence of anti-drug antibodies. Here, they studied patients starting etanercept and reach the same conclusion, suggesting that anti-drug antibody testing may help identify patients who should be switched to another class of drug.
