Impact of obesity and knee osteoarthritis on morbidity and mortality in older Americans
Losina E, Walensky RP, Reichmann WM et al.
Obesity, with its multiple associated comorbidities, and knee osteoarthritis (OA) contribute to a significant amount of disability in older Americans. Both conditions are potentially preventable with lifestyle changes, yet the incidence of both is on the rise. In this study, the authors examine the impact of these conditions on morbidity and mortality and estimate the impact that a more effective prevention effort might have on these outcomes.
