Rheumatoid arthritis-interstitial lung disease-associated mortality

Olson AL, Swigris JJ, Sprunger DB et al.
Despite improvements in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) therapy, RA-associated interstitial lung disease continues to be an important cause of mortality, particularly among older individuals.
Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is one of the most common extra-articular manifestations of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It can cause significant morbidity, and extra-articular disease in general has been associated with the increased mortality seen in RA. However, to date, there has been no large-scale assessment of the impact of ILD specifically on mortality in RA.
